This self portrait is based off a study on a technique Chuck Close used.
I am a senior art and biology major from the College of Saint Benedict's and Saint John's University. I am writing this blog to keep a record of my creative thoughts and processes as I explore the painting medium. I hope this blog becomes a place of reflection and inspiration for myself and others interested!

Master Drawing: Blue Dancers (Edgar Degas)
This project was a study on another artist's painting. This drawing is based off of Edgar Degas's oil
pastel-- Blue Dancers
Mural: For High School Dance
I was asked to help out with a mural for my high school's winter dance. Their theme was under the sea. They provided me with the design they wanted done for the mural, and I drew it out on the pre-primed canvas. I painted on my own for four days. On the third day, a couple girls from the Apollo art club did help out in the painting process. Day four was the last day I could work on the mural, so I did as much as could to bring the mural along.
Stage 1: Began painting today after I roughly drew the main contours of the piece |
Stage 2: Painting in the boat today |
Stage 3: Added in rocks, sails and some high school art students began painting coral and seaweed on top right rock |
Stage 4: Last day I had to work on the mural. Began putting in the brightly colored plants and coral. |
